Alter-Air Corporation’s ACE is advanced technology, planet-friendly air conditioning system that replaces the old conventional (compressors and freon®) air conditioners. And because the ACE runs on less than 1200 watts, it operates in a class by its self: EER of 30 – Ultra-High Efficiency!

As Cool as an ACE

ACE is a proprietary three-stage cooling system.

Far more efficient at cooling than conventional air conditioning, it does it without compressors and freon
®.

In the first stage, return air from the building enters the air handler and passes through a super-efficient heat exchanger. In the exchanger super-cooled water extracts the heat from the air. The now cooled air then is supplied to the building. The now warmed water is then sent back to the "wet" or cooling unit.

In the cooling unit, the second stage occurs. The warmed water (really still quite cool), is changed into a fine mist. Still in this unit, ambient air (very hot) is drawn through a system of deflectors which are continuously drenched in the misted water. In this process the water becomes super-cooled and collected in a reservoir.

Stage three pumps the super-cooled water in the reservoir to the heat exchanger in the air handling unit where the circulating air is cooled once again (stage one.)

ACE Benefits

  1. Significantly lowers energy consumption without the initial starting power surges of a compressor. A 3-1/2 ton system operating off 110VAC, single phase operates at less than 1200 watts -- less than a blow dryer.

  2. Freon free, ACE does not use chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydro chlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) as old technology air conditioners. CFCs and HCFCs are ozone-depleting substances commonly referred to as greenhouses gases and are a major contributor to global warming.

  3. Ultra-High Efficiency. EER of 30.

  4. ACE’s exhaust air is 15°- 20°F cooler than ambient air. This air can be used to cool a garage or warehouse. The exhaust air from a typical air conditioner is 15°- 35°F warmer than the outside temperature. Air conditioners warm the atmosphere, ACEs cool the atmosphere.

  5. Does not add humidity to the building. Even though water is the cooling media, Alter-Air’s unique and proprietary heat exchanger system keeps the air and the water separate thereby making no change in the humidity level between what comes into the system and what is supplied to the building.

  6. Reduces noise. ACE does not use a compressor; it is much quieter than an air conditioner.

  7. Can Operate off the grid – As an option, the system can be solar-powered and operate directly off battery storage. (No need for inverter.)

ACE is designed for the arid climates of the world including the 12 states located in the western United States.

Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER)


EER is a measure of cooling efficiency at a certain specified indoor and outdoor temperature and is therefore less indicative of real-world performance.


Air Conditioners and even high-efficiency air conditioners use compressors. This old technology equipment typically has EER ratings of 11 to 17 and use 3,500 watts of power. The ACE has no compressor. It operates off 110 VAC and not 220 VAC. It uses just 1200 watts of power giving the system a EER of 30.

TAX CREDITS (United States)

In the United States ACE qualifies for tax credits. See IRS Notice 2006-52 to determine how your commercial / industrial building can receive tax credits of up to $1.80 per SQFT.

Arizona Schools

House Bill 2496 became law in 2007! It allows Arizona school districts to partner with their utility companies to make investments in cost-effective energy measures, such as the ACE. 

Installation Information


ACE is designed for industrial and commercial structures; the Alter Air Team is ready to assist
architects and engineers evaluate any application. ACE can be mounted on a roof or a concrete pad on the ground.. The Alter Air Team can also assist in planning retrofits.

Options

  • Dehumidifier Module -- for use below 3000 ft in altitude. This is a module for added comfort. and will likely be used only a few months each year.

  • Heat Modules – Electrical Strip Heaters, LP Gas, and Natural Gas allows ACE to heat and cool.

  • Solar Panels and Batteries – Operate off the grid
